NBA All-Star Weekend 2006
These are August, 2005 notes about the weekend: The 56th NBA All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, February 18 at the Thomas and Mack Center.... This will be the first NBA All-Star held in a city without an NBA team... NBA All-Star competitions will tip off on Friday, February 16 with the Rookie Challenge... NBA All-Star Saturday Night will feature the Shooting Stars, Skills Challenge, Three-Point Shootout and Slam Dunk Contest... The 14th NBA All-Star Jam Session will be held at The Mandalay Bay Convention Center. The event is open to the public and will feature 350,000 square feet of basketball activities and games... Non-gaming economic impact for 2007 NBA All-Star is projected at $27 million. Other recent impact numbers include: 2005 Denver, $30 million; and 2004 Los Angeles, $30.3 million. Houston is projecting $50 million in 2006. (all figures provided by local convention and visitors bureaus)... All-Star 2007 is projected to draw more than 25,000 visitors who would utilize nearly 43,000 room nights in local hotels, including The Palms, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, The Bellagio, Monte Carlo and The Venetian. The NBA will utilize almost 5,000 room nights.
2005 NBA ALL-STAR WEEKEND
The big weekend has arrived -- 2005 NBA All-Star Weekend, taking place in Denver, Colorado from February 18-20. Friday night features a few events like a fun Celebrity game and an equally fun Rookie Challenge, a game featuring the best rookies of this year against the best rookies from last season. Saturday features the dunk and three-point contests and other events. And the actual All-Star game is on Sunday. See below for a schedule and all the rosters.
