NBA suspends Ray Allen, Keyon Dooling for fighting
NBA News | Jan. 13, 2006
Orlando Magic guard Keyon Dooling has been
suspended five games without pay for fighting with and attempting to
confront Seattle SuperSonics guard Ray Allen in the hallway following his
ejection.
Ray Allen has been suspended three games without pay for fighting
with Dooling in Wednesday’s game, it was announced today by Stu Jackson,
NBA Senior Vice President Basketball Operations.
The incident occurred with 10:57 remaining in the second quarter of the
SuperSonics 113-104 win over the visiting Magic at KeyArena. Dooling will
begin serving his suspension tonight as the Magic visit Portland and Allen
will also begin serving his suspension tonight when the SuperSonics host
the Miami Heat.
InsideHoops.com Editor's Reaction: This seems a bit harsh. I guess the NBA is going to be extra strict about fighting due to last year's brawl in Detroit. I felt Allen might get two games and Dooling three. So the NBA's ruling isn't that far off, but it's definitely on the heavy side.
