InsideHoops.com NewsWire | Nov. 26, 2007
The Denver Nuggets have hired Stacey Augmon as a player development coach, team Vice President of Basketball Operations Mark Warkentien announced today.
Augmon played 15 seasons in the NBA with Atlanta, Portland, Charlotte/New Orleans and Orlando. In 1,001 career NBA games, he averaged 8.0 ppg and 3.2 rpg.
This past preseason, Augmon played for the Nuggets, appearing in five games and averaging 3.2 ppg and 2.6 rpg, before being waived on Oct. 23.
Augmon finds many familiar faces in the Nuggets organization. Warkentien and assistant coach Tim Grgurich were on staff at UNLV in 1990, when Augmon and the Rebels won a National Championship. Nuggets assistant coach John Welch also coached Augmon earlier in his career at UNLV.
