Houston Rockets General Manager Carroll Dawson announced today that the team has waived guard Kelenna Azubuike.

Azubuike (6-5, 220, Kentucky) averaged 2.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in two preseason games with Houston. Signed by the Rockets as a free agent on Aug. 4, Azubuike also played with the Denver Nuggets in the 2006 Toshiba Vegas Summer League, averaging 16.4 points (.579, 22-38 FG) and finishing tied for 10th in the league in scoring.

The 6-foot-5 guard played in five preseason outings with the Cleveland Cavaliers last season. Azubuike went on to average 12.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 41 games with the Fort Worth Flyers of the D-League in 2005-06. As a collegian, Azubuike averaged 10.0 points and 3.7 rebounds in 97 career games at Kentucky.
