Houston Rockets Owner Leslie Alexander announced today that he has named Tad Brown as CEO of the Houston Rockets and Clutch City Sports & Entertainment. Brown fills the CEO role vacated by former President & CEO George Postolos, who resigned his position in June to found The Postolos Group.
"Tad has displayed great leadership during his four seasons with our organization," said Alexander. "He is passionate about delivering winning experiences for our customers and fans, and works tirelessly to connect our team to the community. Tad is committed to the long-term success of the Rockets and Toyota Center, and I know he's the right person at the right time to take us to the next level."
Brown, who is in his fifth season with the organization, moves into his new role after serving the past two years as Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Broadcasting. During that time, Brown was responsible for the supervision and integration of the team's corporate development, marketing, ticket sales, suite sales, media/public relations, broadcasting and community relations departments. He will now work with Alexander to lead the Senior Management Team, which analyzes future growth opportunities for the franchise.
"I am honored that Mr. Alexander has chosen me to help lead the business side of the Rockets organization," said Brown. "Mr. Alexander's goal for our organization has always been to deliver championship-caliber experiences, both on and off the court, for our fans and partners. We've made some great strides in that area in recent years and I look forward to working with Mr. Alexander and our entire staff to ensure that we provide an unforgettable experience every time a customer attends an event at Toyota Center. The future is very bright for the Rockets and Toyota Center, and I'm very proud to be part of a great team."
Brown joined the organization as Vice President of Corporate Development in 2001 and played a key role in the naming-rights agreement with Toyota Center, the development of the organization's long-term television strategy, and the execution of the 2006 NBA All-Star weekend, among other initiatives.
Before joining the Rockets, Brown was a Founder and ultimately President of Streetball Partners International. He worked closely with NBC Sports and the NBA for over a decade to build Streetball into the largest global grassroots basketball property in the world. Brown managed all sales, marketing, sponsor service, licensing and new business initiatives for Streetball. He saw Streetball grow from a staff of 10 to over 250 employees worldwide during his tenure.
Brown is a graduate of Colgate University, where he was a four-year starter and three-year captain of the varsity basketball team.
