76ers' Rodney Carney signs contract
Sixers News | July 9, 2006
Philadelphia 76ers President Billy King announced today that the Sixers have signed 2006 first round draft pick Rodney Carney. Per team policy, terms of the contract are not disclosed.
Philadelphia acquired the draft rights to Carney (16th overall selection) from Chicago along with a 2007 second round draft pick and cash considerations in exchange for the draft rights to Thabo Sefolosha (13th overall selection). A 6-foot-6, 240-pound forward, Carney averaged 17.2 points per game as a senior at the University of Memphis and holds the Tigers record for career three-pointers made (287, 3rd in Conference USA history) and finished third in career scoring (1,901 points) in 133 games.
Carney will participate in the Sixers Mini-Camp (July 10-13) in preparation for the 2006 Rocky Mountain Revue in Salt Lake City, Utah from July 14-21.
