Bobcats exercise options on Carroll, Anderson

The Charlotte Bobcats today exercised the team’s option on guards Matt Carroll and Alan Anderson, it was announced by Bobcats General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Bickerstaff. By picking up the options, the Bobcats retain Carroll and Anderson through at least the 2006-07 season.
"It was an easy decision to exercise the options for Matt and Alan. Their play earned them the opportunity to return and continue the strong progress made this season," Bickerstaff said. "We look forward to Matt and Alan continuing to utilize their talents and contributing to our organization."
In his second season with Charlotte, the 6-6, 212-pound Carroll appeared in 78 games for the Bobcats, starting six, and averaged 7.8 points on .403 (192-476) shooting from the floor and .821 (138-178) shooting from the free throw line. Carroll scored a career-high 26 points on February 10 against Toronto and tallied double-figure scoring in 26 games.
A 6-6, 220-pounder, Anderson was signed as a rookie free agent on August 9, 2005. After seeing limited minutes over the first half of his rookie year, Anderson averaged 7.8 points in 14 games over the season’s final two months and 9.7 points in the month of April, where Charlotte won a franchise-best six games. In 36 games this season Anderson scored 5.9 points on .414 (75-181) shooting from the floor and.414 (24-58) from beyond the arc, to go with 1.9 rebounds.
