Chris Duhon Interview
By InsideHoops.com / Jan. 23, 2005
Chicago Bulls guard Chris Duhon enjoyed NCAA success at Duke University, was not a sure bet to have a long NBA career, but has helped the Bulls go from a miserable start to what looks like a successful season. InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner met with Duhon a few days ago in Madison Square Garden for an exclusive interview.
InsideHoops.com: Talk about sticking with the Bulls, making the NBA, proving to this team and people in general that you had a place in the league.
Chris Duhon: I just stayed focused. I didn't put any added pressure on myself. I didn't try to be anybody else. Just went out and played hard every night, tried to learn from each day. And just continued to keep working hard.
InsideHoops.com: What would you say were your strengths coming into the league? And your strengths and weaknesses now?
Chris Duhon: I came from a winning program. I was a competitor. I understood the game. A good defender. The only weakness is just consistently knocking down the jump-shot. That's something I've been working on; it's been getting better the last couple of games, and I'm just going to continue to do that.
InsideHoops.com: The Bulls have a pretty unorthodox starting lineup, but it's working.
Chris Duhon: During preseason that was the lineup that did well for us. But we started with a different lineup and went 0-9, and coach just thought about making a change, and he made a change to put me in there. And we started getting some wins. Chemistry seems to be real good with us out there starting it off, and Ben (Gordon) and Tyson (Chandler) have accepted that role coming off the bench, and they've been doing a great job doing that.
InsideHoops.com: You guys must be having a lot more fun now that you're winning.
Chris Duhon: A whole lot more fun. It's good to win, that's what we've been doing, and we'll continue to do that.
InsideHoops.com: How have Chicago fans been reacting to the success the team now has?
Chris Duhon: They just wanted a team that was going to go out and play hard every night, and that's what we've brought to them. Now we've added some wins with that, so I think they're pretty excited right now.
