InsideHoops NewsWire | Sept. 20, 2006
The San Antonio Spurs announced today that they have signed Olu Famutimi. InsideHoops.com hears it's a nonguaranteed contract, though that's unconfirmed.
Famutimi, a 6-5 guard, spent the 2005-06 season playing in the NBA Development League with the Arkansas RimRockers. In 47 games he averaged 6.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 16.5 minutes per game while shooting .513 (122-238) from the field. Prior to joining the Rimrockers, Famutimi was in training camp with the Philadelphia 76ers and made appearances in four preseason games (4.5 ppg, 2.0 rpg) before being waived. Famutimi played two seasons at the University of Arkansas where he earned All-SEC Freshman honors. In 57 games with the Razorbacks he averaged 8.3 points and 3.9 rebounds in 22.2 minutes per game.
The Spurs training camp roster stands at 20, five more than the regular season maximum of 15.
