Jim Jackson Mini-Interview
By InsideHoops.com / Jan. 28, 2005
NBA veteran Jim Jackson recently got traded from New Orleans to Phoenix. Jackson, who had just been traded to the Hornets from Houston, refused to actually play for the Hornets and did not spend a single minute on the court for them. He's now extremely happy in the land of the extremely high-rising Suns. InsideHoops.com NBA analyst Jeff Lenchiner recently met with Jackson for a quick interview.
InsideHoops.com: The Suns seem like the perfect team for you to have been traded to. They needed bench strength, and you can start, come off the bench, defend, score, do everything on both sides of the floor.
Jim Jackson: Yeah, I was happy, when the call came in. I just want to do what I can and help this team win. That's what I want to do, be happy, play basketball and win some games.
InsideHoops.com: With actual quality players.
Jim Jackson: Yeah, definitely.
InsideHoops.com: Did you have specific teams that you had set your mind on getting sent to?
Jim Jackson: Yeah, we had talked to some teams, and Phoenix came in at the last minute. They made the deal, and I'm so glad that they did.
InsideHoops.com: What teams other than Phoenix were you looking to go to?
Jim Jackson: (Smiles) I can't mention them. There's a couple out there.
InsideHoops.com: How many teams really interested you?
Jim Jackson: Probably three or four. Definitely three, that were right there knocking at the door. And Phoenix came last, in the last hour, and made it happen.
InsideHoops.com: Compare this team to other squads you've been on.
Jim Jackson: Can't. It's different. A lot of guys, interchangable parts that can play a number of positions. You run up and down, you shoot. Once we tighten up our defense, we'll be alright.
