The Toronto Raptors announced Sunday they have signed forward Luke Jackson to a 10-day contract. Jackson was playing for the Idaho Stampede in the NBA Development League. He is 18th Gatorade NBA Call-Up this season and the third in Raptors history (Andre Barrett, Omar Cook).
Jackson, 6-foot-7, 215 pounds, averaged 14.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 23 games with Idaho. He was shooting .486 (34-70) from three-point range. In seven contests in March, Jackson averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists, while shooting .556 (45-81) from the field, .550 (11-20) from three-point land and .842 (16-19) at the foul line. He totaled a season-best 29 points in his last outing, March 17 versus Anaheim.
Jackson, 25, was a first-round selection (10th overall) by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2004 NBA Draft. He played two seasons with Cleveland, averaging 2.7 points and 1.0 rebounds in 46 appearances. He was dealt to Boston on October 13, but was released prior to the start of this season. This is Jackson’s second 10-day contract in 2007. He signed with the Los Angeles Clippers on January 8, and totaled three points, one rebound and four assists in three games.
In addition to the Stampede, the 12-team NBA D-League includes the Albuquerque Thunderbirds (N.M.), Anaheim Arsenal (Calif.), Arkansas Rimrockers (Little Rock), Austin Toros (Texas), Bakersfield Jam (Calif.), Colorado (Broomfield) 14ers, Dakota Wizards (Bismarck, N.D.), Fort Worth Flyers (Texas), Los Angeles D-Fenders, Sioux Falls Skyforce (S.D.) and Tulsa 66ers (Okla.)
Jackson will be in uniform Monday when the Raptors face the Celtics in Boston. Game time is 7:30 p.m. (Rogers Sportsnet/FAN 590)
