Jason Smith interviewPhiladelphia 76ers rookie Jason Smith in 15.8 minutes per game is averaging 5.2 points and 3.4 rebounds on 46.5% shooting. The 7-0, 240-pounder, who went to Colorado State, is a very agile, athletic basketball player for his height and should have a bright future in the league. InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner recently met with Smith for an exclusive interview.

InsideHoops.com: How's the rookie experience been so far?

Jason Smith: It's been good. It's a great learning experience, to figure out what the NBA is like. Playing in all the different arenas, and against all the different players, it's been a blast so far.

InsideHoops.com: You're definitely athletic. What do you think your strengths are? What aspects of your game are NBA-ready and what will take time to develop?

Jason Smith: It's great that I bring energy off the bench. I know my role as a first-year player. They don't really need me to score that much. Obviously you continue to work on your inside game as well as your outside game, in practices and shootarounds. You just have to keep your skills nice and developed.

InsideHoops.com: On other teams around the league, who is most impressive player you've seen?

Jason Smith: It would have to be Dirk Nowitzki. He's an All-Star, the MVP of the league. A big guy that can dribble, that can shoot. He's so versatile, it's hard to guard him.

InsideHoops.com: Guys that play like small forwards aren't supposed to be 7 feet tall, but he does it.

Jason Smith: Exactly, you're not supposed to be 7 feet tall and be able to handle the ball and shoot outside shots. He's a great player.

InsideHoops.com: And going off the court to some fun stuff, once you became an NBA player and had that rookie contract, did you buy anything extremely nice?

Jason Smith: I bought myself a couple cars. I bought a Range Rover and a Dodge Charger.

InsideHoops.com: Which is better?

Jason Smith: I like the Charger, just because I'm more of a muscle car guy. I didn't really have the money to get a muscle car when I was younger. Now that I'm in the NBA, I figured, 'hey, welcome to the NBA, get a muscle car.'

InsideHoops.com: And when you have some free time, and you aren't playing basketball or traveling, what sorta stuff do you like to do? Books, video games, movies?

Jason Smith: I play online video games with a couple of my friends back home. A Playstation 3. I'm a gamer, when it comes to the shooting games.

InsideHoops.com: What games do you like?

Jason Smith: Resistance, Fall of Man is a good one. Call of Duty 4. I've just been trying to stay in contact with my friends back home through video games.
