Now in its 16th year, Jordan Brand Classic basketball has announced the All-American Boys Team for this year’s game.

The game will take place on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The 24 players selected will follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest in the game, including Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, LeBron James and Chris Paul. In celebration of their selection, each player will also be honored with a special ceremony in their respective hometowns through the second annual Senior Night Tour.

“We are thrilled to once again shine light on the next generation of basketball stars and give them the opportunity to play in a premium venue like Barclays Center,” said Larry Miller, President of Jordan Brand. “We appreciate the support of American Family Insurance, and share in its mission to recognize amateur athletes in their hometowns with the family and friends who helped them succeed.”

The Jordan Brand Classic is not only an honor for elite players, but for the top coaches in the high school game as well. This year’s National Boys East Team will be led by Steve Turner (Gonzaga College HS; Washington, D.C.), John Mosco (Archbishop Wood HS; Warminster, PA), and Shane Heirman (La Lumiere; La Porte, IN), while the West will be coached by Fred Johnson (Greensboro Day School; Greensboro, NC), Paul Washington (Findlay Prep; Henderson, NV), and George Washington (Pebblebrook HS; Mableton, GA).

For the National Girls East squad, Randy Coffman (Riverdale HS; Murfreesboro, TN), Karen Weitz (Centennial HS; Las Vegas, NV), and Kirk Pointer (Georgia Pistols; Kennesaw, GA) will be at the helm, with Jan Azar (Wesleyan School; Norcross, GA), Tony Smith (Homewood-Flossmoor HS; Flossmoor, IL), and Kara Leary (New England Crusaders; Nashua, NH) leading the West.

Regionally, Billy Turnage and Michael Salvatore from Wings Academy (Bronx, NY) have been selected to coach the Blue Team and Dwayne Mitchell and Rudy King from Monsignor Scanlon HS (Bronx, NY) will be leading the Red Team. For the International Game, the Blue Team will be coached by Roy Rana (Ryerson University; Toronto, CAN) and the Red Team will be led by Herman Harried (Lake Clifton HS; Baltimore, MD).

NATIONAL JORDAN BRAND CLASSIC 2014 GAME RESULTS: NBCSports.com -- The Jordan Brand Classic was dominated by minimal defense and a duo of Chicago natives on Friday night as the East topped the West, 158-147, in the annual high school basketball all-star contest played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. East MVP and Duke commit Jahlil Okafor finished the game with a game-high 29 points to go along with nine rebounds while West MVP and Kansas commit Cliff Alexander finished with 23 points, eight rebounds and five blocks.

REGIONAL GAME RESULTS: In the closing seconds of regulation of the Jordan Regional Game, Miami commit Ja’Quan Newton let loose a jumper from the right wing that might have won the game for the Away team. But Desi Rodriguez, a 6-foot-6 forward out of Abraham Lincoln High School, jumped up with his hand extended and blocked the shot, sending the game to overtime. In the extra period, the Seton Hall-bound Rodriguez had 5 of his team’s 7 points, including a vicious dunk, as the Home team won, 102-99, at Barclays Center. “I just wanted to contest the shot,” Rodriguez said after finishing with 17 points and 4 rebounds. “I know Ja’Quan is a great player. I knew he was going to take the last shot and I just had to get up and get the block.” ... For the second straight year, Barclays Center will serve as the host venue for the 13th annual Jordan Brand Classic. The nation’s premier high school all-star game will be held on April 18 in Brooklyn, NY.

Jordan Brand Classic will feature three epic bouts, beginning with an International Game at 2:30 p.m. EDT. This is the seventh year that the best young talent from around the globe will square off on-court, showcasing the world’s basketball talent. Following the International Game, the New York metropolitan area can support their favorite local talent in the Regional Game, tipping off at 4:30 p.m. The Regional Game is a “City vs. Suburbs” showdown that will feature the top prep players from the area.

Headlining the Jordan Brand Classic is the National Game, with tip-off slated for 7 p.m. EDT. This game serves as an annual showcase for the best talent at the high school level. Jordan Brand signature athletes including Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony and Blake Griffin are all Jordan Brand Classic alums.

Jabari Parker (Chicago, IL/Duke) earned co-Most Valuable Player honors tonight as he finished with 16 points and seven rebounds at the 12th annual Jordan Brand Classic. Sharing the co-MVP honors was Julius Randle (Dallas, TX/Kentucky), who had 19 points and seven rebounds.

The Jordan Brand Classic not only features future stars on the court, but many prominent celebrities such as Michael Jordan, CC Sabathia, Carmelo Anthony, Amar’e Stoudemire, Fabolous and JR Smith. In addition to the post-game performance by Drake, the X-Factor Drumline wowed fans during the International Game halftime. Saxophonist Mike Phillips and violinist Lee England, Jr. performed together during the National Game halftime show.

Celebrating a decade of the top prep basketball competition, Jordan Brand yesterday announced with Kevin Durant of the NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder that the 2011 Jordan Brand Classic will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Durant was the 2006 co-Most Valuable Player of the Jordan Brand Classic.

The 2011 Jordan Brand Classic will feature the nations’ top prep players in a National Game, a Regional Game featuring the best high school players from the state of North Carolina in an East vs. West matchup, and an International Game with the top 17-and-under players from around the world.

“We are thrilled that for 10 years the Jordan Brand Classic has been the premier destination where the biggest names in youth basketball can display their talents in a competitive environment while also receiving teaching that will leave them equipped to reach their goals of being successful both on and off the court,” said Keith Houlemard, President of Jordan Brand.

North Carolina-bound Harrison Barnes (Ames High School/Ames, IA) earned co-Most Valuable Player honors tonight at the World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, as he finished with 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead the White Jerseys to the 129-125 victory over the Black Jerseys at the 2010 Jordan Brand Classic. Harrison Barnes was joined by co-MVP Kyrie Irving (St. Patrick High School/West Orange, NJ/Duke) who had 22 points, seven assists and four rebounds for the Black Jerseys.

Sponsored by Jordan Brand, a division of NIKE, Inc., the event was once again attended by some of sport and entertainment’s biggest stars including Chris Paul, Jadakiss, DJ Clue, Mario, MC Lyte, Lee England, DJ Clark Kent, Skyzoo and Alex Thomas. Multi-platinum recording artist and actor Common headlined the halftime musical performance while R&B artist and songwriter Marsha Ambrosius performed the National Anthem.

Other statistical standouts included Josh Selby (Lake Clifton High School/Baltimore, MD/Kansas) with 21 points, Cory Joseph (Findlay Prep/Ontario, Canada/Undecided) with seven assists, Tristan Thompson (Findlay Prep/Ontario, Canada/Texas) with 13 rebounds and Jared Sullinger (Northland High School/Columbus, OH/Ohio State) with four blocks.

A highlight of the evening was college announcements in front of the Madison Square Garden crowd and national ESPN television audience from Josh Selby (Baltimore, MD) who committed to Kansas and New York City native Doron Lamb (Mouth of Wilson, VA), who announced that he will be attending Kentucky in the fall.

The annual Jordan Classic features three games: An international game featuring the top 15-16 year old players from around the world, a New York regional game featuring the best players from New York City and state, and the big game that gets by far the most attention, the national Jordan classic game featuring the best high school basketball players in North America. 2007 JORDAN CLASSIC

The 2007 Jordan Classic basketball game took place Saturday night in Madison Square Garden. It was a fun show. Team Yellow, who got 16 points from both Eric Gordan and Kyle Singler, beat Team Royal, who got 20 points from Donte Greene and 17 points from Jerryd Bayless. The final score was 127-119, Yellow victorious.

The game's Most Valuable Players were Corey Fisher for the winning Yellow squad and Greene for Team Black. Fisher shot just 4-of-14 to get his 12 points but he also dished 10 assists and created countless other plays with his dribble penetration and thrilling passes. Greene, an awesome athlete, shot 7-of-12 for his 20 points and also had 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

2006 Jordan Classic

The 2006 Jordan All-American Classic is scheduled this year for Saturday, April 22nd. The Jordan Classic now has a new name, expanding to the “All-American” title for the first time. Th 2006 Jordan Classic will feature the country’s top high school seniors and be televised nationally once again on ESPN2 and ESPNU. The Jordan All-American Classic will also include a regional game, showcasing the top prep players from the New York City metropolitan area in a City vs. Suburbs showdown. A portion of the proceeds will once again benefit the New York City-based charity The Children’s Aid Society.

2005 JORDAN CLASSIC | April 14, 2005

This year's event is at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, April 16th. Jordan unveiled the National Game roster, which will feature the country’s top high school seniors and be televised nationally on ESPN2 (complete player rosters are included on the following page). The 2005 Jordan Classic will also include a regional game, showcasing the top prep players from the New York City metropolitan area.

The event was previously held in Washington, DC for 31 years, including the past three years with Jordan as the title sponsor. During that time, the participants included current NBA stars LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudamire and Dwight Howard and current NCAA standouts Chris Paul (Wake Forest), Rashad McCants (North Carolina), Sean May (North Carolina), John Gilchrist (Maryland), Dee Brown (Illinois), J.J. Redick (Duke) and J.R. Giddens (Kansas).

“We are thrilled to be showcasing the top national and local high school athletes at the world’s most famous arena,” said Michael Jordan. “The Jordan Classic will be an exciting showcase, which we look forward to hosting in New York City as an annual event.”

“New York City has a rich history in high school basketball and we are thrilled to host the nation’s top prep players in this prestigious event,” said Joel Fisher, Senior Vice President, Sports Properties for Madison Square Garden. “It will be great to have Michael Jordan back at the Garden and we anticipate tremendous support for the event from our loyal basketball fans.”

“We are delighted to welcome the 2005 Jordan Classic to New York City,” said New York City Sports Commissioner Kenneth J. Podziba. “There’s no better place to showcase the top high school talent in the country than Madison Square Garden-the Mecca of basketball.”

A portion of each ticket sold will benefit The Children’s Aid Society, a large non-profit children’s agency based in New York City.

The 2005 Jordan Classic will be nationally televised live on ESPN U.

The head coaches will be Maurice Hicks of Rice High School (New York, NY) and Bob Oliva of Christ the King High School (Middle Village, NY).

Hicks began his coaching career in 1990 at Louis D. Brandeis High School in New York City, where he won his first city championship in 1992. In 1994, he returned to Rice High School, where he spent three years as a student, and guided Rice to four Catholic city titles and four state Federation crowns. This season Rice finished with a 22-5 record, won the CHSAA Bronx/Manhattan title and advanced to the CHSAA Class AA City Title game. Hicks’ assistants are Lorenzo Hands of Palm Beach Lakes High School (West Palm Beach, Fla.) and Luther Riley of Provine High School (Jackson, Miss).

“It’s an honor to be selected to coach in the Jordan Classic,” said Hicks. “This is a great event for a great city and I’m certain fans will appreciate the terrific high school basketball showcase.”

Since Oliva was named Christ the King’s Varsity coach in 1981, he has the led the Royals to 14 Brooklyn Queens Championships and four City Championships. Oliva has been named New York City Coach of the Year six times and in 1989 was named National Coach of the Year. For his career, Oliva has amassed a record of 477-163. This season the Royals finished with a 24-3 record, ranked No. 15 in USA Today’s Super 25 poll and advanced to the AA CHSAA City Semifinals. Oliva’s assistants are Mike Jones of DeMatha Catholic High School (Hyattsville, Md.) and Timmy Byrd of Reserve Christian High School (Reserve, La).

“I am thrilled to be selected to coach in this prestigious basketball event,” said Oliva. “It’s a great opportunity to coach the nation’s top players at the world’s most famous arena.”

The event doubleheader will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the Regional Game, followed by the National Game at 8:00 p.m.
