Charlotte Bobcats guard Brevin Knight has a right rectus abdominis muscle tear, an MRI taken at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA today revealed. The injury will sideline Knight for approximately 4-5 weeks.
“Brevin has had an abdominal tear for some time and has bravely tried to play through it, as is testimony to his warrior mentality,” said Bobcats team physician Dr. Glenn Perry. “This is not career threatening and he should have a full recovery.”
Knight will undergo surgery to repair the muscle tear Friday morning at Hahnemann University Hospital, and it will be performed by Dr. William Meyers, Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine.
Knight has appeared in 19 games for the Bobcats this season, averaging 11.9 points, 7.3 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals in 32.6 minutes.
