| Dec. 23, 2006

Nenad Kristic injured out for seasonFollowing further medical examination today, December 23, it has been determined that Nets forward/center Nenad Krstic suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the Nets/Lakers game on Friday, December 22, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today. Krstic will have surgery at an unspecified future date. He will be out for the remainder of the 2006-07 season.

Starting in all 26 games this season, Krstic was averaging 16.4 ppg and 6.8 rpg. He ranked 17th in the NBA in field goal percentage, shooting 52.6% from the field, and had five double-doubles on the season. Throughout his three year NBA career, Krstic is averaging 12.4 ppg and 6.0 rpg in 181 games.

This is a horrible blow to the Nets, who were already struggling this year. The team is especially thin in the frontcourt, and Krstic was their only real scoring option at the power forward or center position.
