Corey Maggette Injury Update
Clippers News | Jan. 31, 2006
Clippers Swingman Corey Maggette had the cast on his left foot removed by team physician Dr. Tony Daly this morning in Los Angeles. Maggette underwent a weight bearing X-ray following the removal of the cast which revealed a considerable amount of healing of the separated ligament in the left foot which has sidelined the Clippers second leading scorer for the past 25 games.
“The X-ray revealed significant healing and we will proceed with our intended therapy and rehabilitation program,” said Dr. Tony Daly following his examination. “We are optimistic about Corey’s status. He will be re-evaluated in two to three weeks at which time we intend to determine a further course of action.”
Maggette will undergo aquatic therapy and a rehabilitation program for the next two weeks before his next evaluation. He will wear customized orthodics and his playing shoe has been altered with a full length carbon fiber shank to allow more rigidity. Maggette is not expected to participate in any on-court activities until he is re-evaluated.
Maggette suffered the injury in the Clippers victory over Miami on December 5 and has remained sidelined since. In 13 games this season, Maggette is averaging 21.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.
