New Jersey Nets to sign Jamaal Magloire

The New Jersey Nets have reached an agreement in principal with free agent forward/center Jamaal Magloire, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released. The agreement is contingent on the passing of the required physical by Magloire.

Magloire (611/265), the seven-year NBA veteran out of Kentucky, played in 81 games for the Portland Trail Blazers in 2006-07, averaging 6.5 ppg and 6.1 rpg. In 23 starts, Magloire posted averages of 8.4 ppg and 8.1 rpg.
A member of the 2004 NBA All-Star Team, Magloire holds career averages of 9.0 ppg and 7.5 rpg in 506 NBA games. Magloire was selected 19th overall in the 2000 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets. Following five seasons with the Hornets, the Toronto native was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks prior to the start of the 2005-06 NBA season. After one season in Milwaukee, Magloire was acquired by the Portland Trail Blazers for the 2006-07 season. Magloire has competed in a total of 36 postseason contests, with career playoff averages of 9.1 ppg and 6.3 rpg.
