Mavericks re-sign Jose Juan Barea

The Dallas Mavericks announced today that they have re-signed guard
Jose Juan Barea. Per team policy, terms of the deal were undisclosed.
"J.J. has worked extremely hard and has developed into a fine young NBA
point guard," said President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Donnie
Nelson. "We are pleased to reward his efforts and look forward to his
bright future in a Mavs uniform."
Last season, Barea (6-0, 175) played in 44 games, starting nine times, for
Dallas and averaged career-highs in points (4.3), assists (1.3), rebounds
(1.1) and minutes (10.5). He also shot career-highs of 41.8% (71-170 FGs)
from the field, 38.9% (21-54 3FGs) from 3-point range and 80.0% (28-35 FTs)
from the line.
Originally signed by Dallas as a rookie free agent on Aug. 17, 2006, Barea
holds career averages of 3.5 points, 1.1 assists, 0.9 rebounds and 8.5
minutes in 77 games (10 starts).
