Steve Nash back spams, withdraws from event

Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash has withdrawn from NBA’s Basketball without Borders Africa event due to back spasms.
“In light of our preseason schedule and our European training camp, we felt it best to limit his travel. This is very precautionary and I have every confidence that Steve will be 100% and ready to take part in our informal workouts next month,” said Suns Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager/Head Coach Mike D’Antoni.
Nash, who was born in South Africa and raised in Canada, was scheduled to attend the NBA’s global community outreach event which will take place Sept. 6-10 at the American International School of Johannesburg in South Africa. Nash was expected to join several other current and former NBA players, including Suns teammate Boris Diaw.
InsideHoops.com Editor Says: It's kind of scary that Steve is going through this in the summer, months after the playoffs ended. But then again, the Suns are obviously on top of it and it's being handled, so as they say above, hopefully all will be well by training camp.
