Quentin Richardson Interview
By InsideHoops.com | Oct. 17, 2006
The New York Knicks parted ways with coach Larry Brown and put Isiah Thomas in charge. A few days ago InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchinet met with swingman Quentin Richardson for an exclusive interivew on the upcoming season.
InsideHoops.com: How was your summer?
Quentin Richardson: I was in Chicago the whole summer, working at the gym. Other than that I was just hanging with my family and friends. That's about as far as I got.
InsideHoops.com: How as training camp? Good things have been said about you lately.
Quentin Richardson: I'm just working hard, trying to earn some minutes, trying to be on the court.
InsideHoops.com: What does it seem like Isiah Thomas wants to do as far as changing the offense goes?
Quentin Richardson: I think he's trying to speed the offense up a little bit and have more of a continuous offense where there's not really plays and things like that. I think it's going to be a fun style. But at the same time we got to be very unselfish with each other with it.
InsideHoops.com: Is there less pressure this season, or more, now that the change has been made, Isiah's taken over, and some issues from last season are perhaps gone.
Quentin Richardson: For me, I don't really look at pressure. I just try to go out there and play. I just push all the other things off to the side, and not really think about it. So for me it's all about going out there and having fun.
InsideHoops.com: And you personally, did you get anything out of last season?
Quentin Richardson: I get something out of every season, man. I go out and I learn. I always try to absorb and learn anything I can. There's always negatives and positives and you just push negatives to the side and try to focus on the positive things.
InsideHoops.com: So now the team can try to enjoy a fresh start.
Quentin Richardson: Yeah, just a fresh start. It's always optimistic, looking into a new season, trying to have fun and make sure your team improves from one year to the next.
