Nate Robinson mini-interview
By InsideHoops.com | Oct. 26, 2009
New York Knicks guard Nate Robinson is a superhuman athlete with incredible hops and ridiculous quickness. But he's apparently hungry to keep expanding his athletic achievements. InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner recently met with Robinson for a quick, exclusive interview.
InsideHoops.com: How was the summer? Do anything fun?
Nate Robinson: Well yeah, I had my daughter. That's about it.
InsideHoops.com: Wow... life-changing experience, huh?
Robinson: Yeah... I have three kids, so... but before that it was just my boys. Now my little girl, so she's my world right now.
InsideHoops.com: Basketball-wise, how do you spend your off-season? Do you have a routine of some kind?
Robinson: I don't take no time off. I just be with my friends and family. And try to be in shape. This year I'm going to call Steve Nash and see if I can work out with him and his soccer thing. So I think I'm going to try to get in contact with him and do a lot of little soccer workouts. And hopefully do his charity event as well. His soccer charity event is pretty hot, so I'll ask if I can join that. Always staying mobile.
InsideHoops.com: Nice. Are you an actual soccer fan, or is it more about the style of training and the play?
Robinson: I like soccer but I really don't follow it like that. Just the sport itself. Another sport that's challenging, that I haven't conquered yet. So it would be pretty cool to get with that.
InsideHoops.com: And what draws you to Nash's stuff in particular? I guess he's famous for it now.
Robinson: He's a cool person. Nash is a cool guy. And he asked me to do it once before... I can't remember if it was my rookie year, but it was a while back. I want to do it this year. So hopefully I can do that. And stay in shape, even if I have to keep running, join a soccer league.
InsideHoops.com: When I think of soccer and basketball, the first thing I think of is Hakeem Olajuwon, how great he was and his footwork and soccer background.
Robinson: Yeah, him, and a lot of other people that love the game of soccer.
