In his senior season he averaged 20.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists. Ross went undrafted, played overseas, and now has an NBA job for the season. InsideHoops.com met with Ross in Madison Square Garden for an exclusive interview.
InsideHoops.com: What's the top moment in your basketball life so far? It could be anything from high school through today.
Quinton Ross: Probably in high school, my senior year of high school, took my team down to state. We lost in the championship game, but it was a great experience to play in that.
InsideHoops.com: What high school?
Quinton Ross: Dallas Campbell High School in Dallas, Texas.
InsideHoops.com: You're born and raised in Dallas, right?
Quinton Ross: Born and raised in Dallas, yeah.
InsideHoops.com: Talk about the NBA draft. Did it go the way you thought it would?
Quinton Ross: Naw, not really. I had expected to get drafted, but it didn't happen like that. So, I came to L.A., played with them, got cut, then went over to Europe, and played over there for about six months, six and a half months. I played in Belgium, in a city called Oostende. That was the name of the team, Oostends. It was a great experience. At first it was difficult, but once I got adjusted to the life over there, it was alright. It was cool.
InsideHoops.com: The first thing I think of about Belgium is chocolate.
Quinton Ross: They got some good chocolate over there.
InsideHoops.com: Have to eat it in moderation.
Quinton Ross: Yeah, you got to. But it's pretty good, though.
InsideHoops.com: And life there, it's laid back and safe and relaxed, right?
Quinton Ross: Yeah, it was a nice country. Very laid back. The part that I was in, most of the people spoke English, so it was cool.
InsideHoops.com: So now you're here with the Clippers. Is the contract guaranteed?
Quinton Ross: Yeah, for the year.
InsideHoops.com: If you had to describe your own game, a scouting report on yourself, go for it.
Quinton Ross: A guy who plays hard, gives a great effort, on the defensive side of the ball, and on offense just tries to make the right plays.
