The Portland Trail Blazers signed center Luke Schenscher from the NBA Development League’s Fort Worth Flyers to a 10-day contract, effective tomorrow. The move is the 16th Call-Up of the NBA season, and second of the month for the Trail Blazers.
In 34 games (31 starts) with the Flyers this season, the 7-1, 265-pounder averaged 9.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.20 blocked shots while shooting .512 from the floor.
Undrafted in the 2005 NBA Draft, Schenscher inked the first of two 10-day contracts with the Chicago Bulls on March 5, 2006, before being signed for the remainder of the 2005-06 campaign. In 20 games with the Bulls last season, Schenscher averaged 1.8 points and 1.5 rebounds in 7.5 minutes while shooting .615 from the field. He scored a career-high 10 points to go with four rebounds vs. the Trail Blazers on March 14, 2006.
A native of Australia, Schenscher played four seasons (2001-05) of college basketball at Georgia Tech. He played three of those seasons alongside Trail Blazers guard Jarrett Jack, posting career averages of 7.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.32 blocks and .542 from the floor.
Schenscher, 24, will wear No. 24 and will be available for Portland’s game at the L.A. Lakers on March 16.
