Sunday in New Jersey the Nets, coming off a five game losing streak, beat the Boston Celtics in convincing fashion. Nets coach Byron Scott was ejected during the game for arguing with a referee. Assistant coach Lawrence Frank took his place. (Ironically, he's apparently going to be Byron Scott's replacement once Scott is fired.)

After the game, Byron Scott had his usual media press conference. InsideHoops.com was there, and we present our exclusive transcript of the whole thing.

(The first question was to Byron Scott about being ejected. He responded by saying that he didn't think he deserved to be ejected. Here is the rest of the press conference):

Question: Were you on edge tonight, at all, because of the five game losing streak, and the way things were going? I mean, you recently said things that we haven't heard you say before.

Byron Scott: Was I on edge?

Question: Yeah... A little tight...

Byron Scott: A little jumpy? Is that what you're trying to say? No, not really. Not really. I just... I thought at the beginning of the game, or towards the first quarter, middle of the first quarter, second quarter, they were allowing them to get away with some things. He didn't think so. But on one tech... geez... give me a tech and then give me another one. But not on one tech.

Question: What was it like listening to the game instead of being a part of it?

Byron Scott: For the first time, I was able to listen to the game in the locker room, and I thought Kelly's and Ian Eagle's observation was pretty good. The fact that when I stand up at halfcourt they can't see nothing but when Lawrence Frank stands up they can still see the game, so I thought that was pretty cute.

Question: Talk about Lawrence Frank, your assistant who went in while you were out.

Byron Scott: Well he's my first assistant, he's my man. He does a heck of a job. He knows these guys just as well as I do. He's been here with me for four years, so, he deserve that opportunity.

Question: Were you surprised at how full the arena was today, given the current team's situation?

Byron Scott: I was a little surprised, but like I said, I didn't have any expectations one way or the other coming into this game, but coming out before the National Anthem and just kind of looking around to see how many fans we had, I was a little surprised. But again, having no expectations, I had a pleasant surprise, so it felt good to see all the people out here supporting us.

Question: Was it a little weird being on a five game winning streak, coming back home, and watching the game from the locker room?

Byron Scott: Was it weird? Not really, like I said, it was kind of fun. I don't want to do it a whole lot of times, but it was kind of fun to sit there with Ed Stefanski and watch it, and see our guys kind of close the game out. Like I said, this is the second time I've been ejected from a game, so, it's not something that I do on an everyday basis. You just kind of throw your hands up in the air against it.

Question: With this convincing win, do you feel the team is now back where they should be?

Byron Scott: After you lose five in a row and you win one game, you can never say you're back, it's still a work in progress. We have to continue to try to get better. The only real negative (tonight) is 29 turnovers. I thought we were a little flip at times with the ball. But again, we played hard. We did a good job of contesting shots, rebounding the ball. What our team is always been in the past couple of seasons, if we rebound well, and our bench gives us production, we're going to have a good chance of winning ball games. And we had both of those areas covered tonight. And we gotta continue to do that.

Question: Did you like what Lucious Harris and the bench did tonight?

Byron Scott: Yeah, I love what Lou did tonight. He was aggressive, he made shots, and that's what we want from him, that's what we need from him.

Question: And you guys dominated on the boards tonight. How did that happen?

Byron Scott: Just a matter of going after it. Just a matter of going after it. We knew that Boston is not a real, real physical basketball team. So we had to try to make a point. Last game that we played them I think we had 16 offensive rebounds, so we wanted to make a point of really emphasizing trying to go to both ends of the court, offensively and defensively, try to rebound the ball, and we did a good job.
