Brian Skinner Interview
By InsideHoops.com | Jan. 25, 2006
Wednesday night in New York the Sacramento Kings are in town to play the Knicks. Before the game, just before it became official that the Kings have traded Peja Stojakovic to the Indiana Pacers for Ron Artest, InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner and a reporter from a local New York paper met with Kings big man Brian Skinner before the game for an interview.
Question: It's been a crazy last day, to put it mildy.
Brian Skinner: Yeah, it's just the nature of the business. Make a lot of new friends, and see a lot of friends go. Make new friends. So, it was up and down, trade was going up, trade was doing down, nobody really knew what was going on. You guys' job to get as much as you possibly can out of it. It's done, so that's the last word I heard. We're focused. We're just trying to get a win right now. All that other stuff is, that's just a part of it. Been traded before. Don't get used to it, but that's just part of the game.
Question: What do you know about Ron Artest?
Brian Skinner: He's a guy that plays hard. He's a competitor. He knows how to win, and he's capable of bringing in a winning attitude to this ballclub. I've watched him play a lot. Having him here would be a great asset.
Question: His attitude messed things up a bit in Indiana. Do you think a change of scenery would do him some good?
Brian Skinner: I think everybody's looking for a new change. Whether or not that is, you have to talk to him and ask him when he gets here.
Question: Is it kind of a nervous situation for you guys, considering Artest's trouble in the past?
Brian Skinner: No, everything else you do outside of basketball, I mean obviously indirectly it affects you but we're not really focused on that. We're not worried about that. One goal we have in mind is just win ball games, and that's going to be the focus.
