Raptors sign Uros Slokar

The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday they have signed forward Uros Slokar to a one-year contract. Per team policy, financial details were not disclosed.
The Raptors selected Slokar with the 58th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-11, 245 pounder played for Benetton Treviso the past three seasons.
Slokar participated in the Raptors’ entries in two summer leagues in 2005. He averaged 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in the Summer Pro League and 10.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in the Minnesota Summer League. He had a 20-point, 10-rebound effort against the Lakers in Summer Pro League action.
In five seasons in Europe, Slokar shot .592 (361-609) from the two-point area and .437 (62-142) from three-point range. He averaged 4.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 45 contests in 2005-06 with Benetton, where he connected at a .556 (60-108) clip from the field and .515 (17-33) from three-point land. He totaled season highs of 20 points, going nine-of-10 from the field, and eight rebounds vs. Panathinakos.
Slokar split the 2004-05 season between Benetton and Udine. He began his career with Geoplin Slovan Ljubljana in Slovenia (2000-02) before signing with Benetton in 2003. At Benetton he was a teammate of Raptors forwards Andrea Bargnani (2003-06) and Jorge Garbajosa (2003-04).
