Bobcats waive Eric Williams

The Charlotte Bobcats today waived forward Eric Williams. The roster now stands at 14 players.
The 6-8, 250-pound forward appeared in five games for the Bobcats and averaged 2.6 points in 6.2 minutes. Charlotte acquired Williams and a 2009 second round draft pick, and cash consideration from San Antonio in exchange for Melvin Ely on February 13.
Williams has played for six different teams during his 11 NBA seasons, including two different stints in Boston, and stops in Denver, Cleveland, New Jersey, Toronto and San Antonio. In 16 games with the Spurs earlier this season, he averaged 2.6 points in 5.5 minutes.
InsideHoops.com Editor Says: Williams stopped being an effective, valued player back in 2005. Although a 10-day contract somewhere is always possible, there's a good chance his NBA career is over. Williams was a rugged, solid role player and will be best remembered for his years with the Boston Celtics. I'm a fan of his. He overcame an extremely rough childhood to achieve his dream, and he's been a great player to talk to over the years.
