InsideHoops.com
InsideHoops.com editor Jeff
Lenchiner met up with the spiritual leader of the New
York Liberty and got some feedback on the 2002 WNBA
season.
InsideHoops.com:
What are you looking forward to about this season in
particular?
Teresa Weatherspoon: Just winning.
We're just looking forward to winning, just coming in
here and piecing our games together, and looking forward
to winning. Bringing home a championship. That's what
our ultimate goal is, that's what we're working forward
to.
InsideHoops.com: Talk to me about
Liberty team changes from last season to this season.
Teresa Weatherspoon: Well we really
don't have many changes, we have our core group, which
is very, very special, and we have Becky and Sue coming
off the bench for us still, and giving us that sparkplug
that we need, our addition with Corey has been tremendous
for us, she's very versatile, plays the one, two and
three, and Linda, she's going to come along with us,
we're not trying to place any great expectations on
her shoulders, we're just going to try to build her
until she can fit in with us, and all the other young
ladies, Cooper and Susan and all those other young ladies,
they're going to do fine for us. We're just looking
forward to having a great season.
InsideHoops.com: Is there any
one team skill that you hope everyone will improve upon
as the season progresses?
Teresa Weatherspoon: No, we're
going to be fine, it's the beginning of the year, we're
going to peace everything togther, we don't want to
do one thing great, we want to do all things great.
We come here, we try to practice and work on everything
that we need to work on. You know there's a lot of things
that we have to, kinda correct, and we're going to do
that, this team is really focused on what we have to
do to win a championship.
