Charlotte will host 2019 NBA All-Star weekend. The 68th NBA All-Star Game will take place at Spectrum Center, home of the Hornets, on Sunday, February 17, 2019. Regarding the announcement of Charlotte as the host of the 2019 All-Star Game, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said: For three decades, the NBA has had a home in Charlotte. Generations of families have attended games there, and fans from many different walks of life have come together to share a passion for a team that is an anchor in the community.

Chicago has been selected to host 2020 NBA All-Star weekend. The 69th annual game will take place at the United Center, home of the six-time NBA champion Chicago Bulls, on Sunday, Feb. 16. This will mark the third NBA All-Star in Chicago, which held the annual celebration in 1973 and 1988. Chicago last hosted NBA All-Star in 1988, when the Bulls Michael Jordan electrified his hometown crowd at Chicago Stadium. He outdueled the Atlanta Hawks Dominique Wilkins to win a spectacular Slam Dunk Contest, and the next day Jordan scored 40 points to earn MVP honors in the Eastern Conference s 138-133 victory over the Western Conference in the All-Star Game. The weekend also featured a third consecutive Three-Point Contest title for the Boston Celtics Larry Bird, who famously raised a finger in the air in celebration before his final, competition-clinching shot dropped through the net. During the Windy City s debut as NBA All-Star host, the East defeated the West 104-84 in the 1973 midseason classic at Chicago Stadium. Boston s Dave Cowens was named MVP after leading the East with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Los Angeles Lakers teammates Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West, who combined for 27 All-Star selections, each appeared in an All-Star Game for the last time.

Indianapolis has been selected to host 2021 NBA All-Star weekend. The 70th NBA All-Star Game will take place at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers, on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021. Indianapolis will follow Los Angeles in 2018, Charlotte in 2019 and Chicago in 2020 as All-Star host. The NBA All-Star Game will be played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for the first time. Indianapolis has an enduring love for basketball that creates a special connection to our All-Star Game, said NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. I want to especially thank Herb Simon for his efforts to bring the All-Star festivities back to Indianapolis as well as acknowledge the strong support we received from Governor Holcomb, Mayor Hogsett, Larry Bird, Rick Fuson and the entire Pacers organization.

We have been working with the NBA, the City of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County to deliver this iconic event to Northeast Ohio for the last couple of years. The world will get to see the modern Cleveland and all of its diversity, innovation and promise for the future.

The City of Cleveland is pleased to host NBA All-Star 2022, said Mayor Jackson. Our city is no stranger to hosting successful, large, global events. It is a good opportunity, once again, for visitors to come to Cleveland and experience all we have to offer.

Cleveland last hosted NBA All-Star in 1997, when the league celebrated its 50th anniversary season. The NBA s 50 Greatest Players were honored during a ceremony at halftime of the All-Star Game.

The 1997 NBA All-Star Game featured a historic performance from Charlotte Hornets forward Glen Rice, who set an All-Star record for points in a quarter with 20 in the third period. Rice finished with 26 points to lead the Eastern Conference past the Western Conference 132-120, earning MVP honors.

Also at NBA All-Star 1997, Los Angeles Lakers rookie guard Kobe Bryant won the Slam Dunk Contest, Chicago Bulls guard Steve Kerr triumphed in the Three-Point Contest and Philadelphia 76ers rookie guard Allen Iverson was named MVP of Rising Stars.

The big change in 2018 NBA All-Star weekend: Under a new All-Star Game format that replaces the traditional matchup between the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference, the team rosters were chosen by two captains from the pool of players voted as starters and reserves. The captains, which for 2018 are LeBron James and Stephen Curry, were the All-Star starter from each conference who received the most fan votes in his respective conference.

And a big NBA All-Star weekend change that was made in 2017 but continues here in 2018: fan voting only accounts for 50% of the selection process for starters in the All-star Game. Current players have a vote that accounts for 25%. And a media panel accounts for the other 25%.

Tony Parker won the Shooting Stars competition. Read the full scores.

Team New York won the Shooting Stars competition. Allan Houston still has a legit jumpshot. And Kenny Smith won praise as well, even though his team lost.

On Friday, Kyrie Irving rocked the rookie/sophomore game and hit an insane 8-of-8 from three-point range. Read how it all went down in the Rising Stars Challenge.

Here's the Kyrie Irving interview after he won Rising Stars MVP and led his team to victory.

2010 NBA All-Star weekend was in Dallas, Texas. A twist was that instead of the main All-Star weekend events taking place in a basketball arena, they were in a football stadium: the home of the Dallas Cowboys.

NBA Celebrity Game: Michael Rapaport was given MVP even though he was terrible. Special K Daley scored 18. Terrell Owens had 10 in a loss.
Rookie Challenge Game: Rookies beat Sophomores 140-128. Tyreke Evans (26 points) won MVP. DeJuan Blair (22 points, 23 rebounds) probably deserved it. In the loss, Russell Westbrook scored 40.
(Halftime Dunk-In between DeMar DeRozan and Eric Gordon was won by DeRozan. So, he'll be the 4th dunker in Saturday's contest.)
D-League Dream Factory Events: Pat Carroll (Iowa Energy), Trey Gilder (Maine Red Claws) and Carlos Powell (Albuquerque Thunderbirds) won Shooting Stars. Dar Tucker won the D-League dunk contest. Andre Ingram won the D-League 3-point shootout.

D-League All-Star game: The West beat the East, with Brian Butch taking the game's MVP award.
NBA HORSE: In All-Star HORSE, Kevin Durant beat Rajon Rondo, with Omri Casspi coming in third of the three.
Shooting Stars: Team Texas, with Dirk, Kenny Smith and Becky Hammon, took it.
Skills Challenge: Steve Nash beat Deron Williams in the final round.
Three-Point Shootout: Paul Pierce beat Chauncey Billups and Stephen Curry in the final round.
Slam Dunk Contest: Nate Robinson won his 3rd dunk title, beating DeMar DeRozan in the final round of what was widely considered a disappointing event this year.
