2007 All-Star Las Vegas action heats up
By Bobby Ciafardini | Feb. 18, 2007
Las Vegas – Sir Charles, fresh off his foot-race victory over Dick Bavetta, was at the MGM Grand early Sunday afternoon, taking in some All-Star pre-game time at the casino’s tables on the final day of 2007 NBA All-Star Weekend in Vegas.
InsideHoops.com was working feverishly to capture all the best that Las Vegas has to offer, while still enjoying some of the city’s best attributes. Charles Barkley and other NBA greats were making their rounds through the casinos on the Strip. Earl “The Pearl” Monroe and Connie “The Hawk” Hawkins – two of the greatest New York City players ever – were signing autographs and taking pictures at the Mandalay Bay casino.
Most of the players are staying at the Palms, but many, especially the NBA legends, were making their way through Mandalay Bay to make appearances at the hotel’s Jam Session convention. The convention is the perfect spot for fans who don’t have tickets to the big game. They get a chance to meet some of the NBA’s best, take part in various games, visit Hall of Fame type collections and comb tables filled with different types of merchandise.
Despite some of the big names at the convention, the NBA still included fomer league ballers like Michael Cooper and Greg Anthony. At one point, the association must have run out of stars on Sunday, because fans were standing on long lines to meet the Laker Girls.
Sorry to report, but no telephone numbers from any of the Laker girls. InsideHoops.com did run into Kiki Vandeweghe, Bryon Russell and a host of other players that the game may have forgotten.
Come on, that’s more special than grabbing any digits from some of the most beautiful girls in the world?
Speaking of hot women, the parties on All-Star Saturday were aplenty. Some were hot and some were not, but the lengths people went to make their parties best was ridiculous. One club promoted Jay Z as host, but was lying and is now in a little bit of trouble.
Well, the action Saturday was hot to say the least, both on the court and after the game, but, as they say, “What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas!”
Celebrity row is filled on Sunday for the 56th NBA All-Star game. David Hasseloff, P. Diddy, Arnold Scwarzenagger, Jay Z and Beyonce just to name a few.
Well, game’s about to tip-off. Enjoy the star-studded extravaganza and be sure to check back with InsideHoops for all the latest on the NBA All-Star game.
